Oregon Bucks The Uninsured Motorist Trend

Nationally, more people are driving without insurance. Historically, unemployment rates have directly affected the number of uninsured motorists. The economic downturn of recent years has magnified that correlation. Oregon is one of a very few states that did not see an increase in the ranks of the uninsured.

The national average for uninsured drivers is 13.8%. Oregon was at 10% in a recently released study. That is a drop of 1% from previous numbers.

The numbers for uninsured motorists demonstrate the need for you to purchase uninsured motorist insurance. Without it you could be liable for all repairs to your vehicle even if you were not at fault for an accident. That may add a few dollars to your policy, but it is worth it when you compare the cost to replacing a vehicle.
